About the Place
Welcome to The Great White Hut, a hidden gem nestled at the corner of California and Orange in Glendale. This delightful spot has quickly earned a reputation among locals and travelers alike. With cozy vibes and a menu that speaks to the heart of American comfort food, The Great White Hut invites you to experience classic flavors that hit all the right notes.
Upon stepping inside, you are greeted with friendly service that sets the tone for a pleasant dining experience. The bacon cheeseburger is often hailed as a standout. Customers rave about its juicy, satisfying nature – perfect after a long day of travel. Accompanied by Americano fries, it's a combo that has left many, including AJ Marinaccio, writing home about these exceptional eats.
While the burgers shine, the menu also offers tempting options such as tacos and burritos. The carnes asada burrito, however, has received mixed reviews. Some have found their portion of steak lacking, suggesting a need for a bit more flair in the next iteration. It's a reminder that every culinary creation can be a work in progress.
The casual atmosphere makes it an ideal stop for a late-night bite or a quick lunch. Richie's in-depth review mentions the limited parking but emphasizes that the hunt for a parking spot is worth it for a taste that’s a refreshing change from the typical chain restaurants.
Whether you’re indulging in a classic double cheeseburger or seeking solace in a late-night plate of tacos, The Great White Hut promises an experience filled with flavor and familiarity. As patrons like Peter Bonamici attest, “you gotta respect the classics.” If you find yourself in the area, this spot is certainly one to consider. Don’t forget to ask for your fries extra crispy for the ultimate crunch!
So why not swing by The Great White Hut and discover why it’s a beloved choice for both the young and the young at heart? Your taste buds will thank you.
“ This place is awesome diamond in the rough. Ordered. A bacon cheeseburger with the Americano fries. The burger was exactly what I needed after a day of travel. The fries were definitely something to write home about, hence this review. The location was cool as it was right on the corner of California and orange. Can't miss it. The service was really quick and the staff was really nice. ”
“ Had a mid experience here. I read about the history of this place and was thus stoked to try it. Got the carne asada burrito ($10), but didn’t feel like there was enough actual steak in there. Also got a not so edible piece in there. Salsa roja was okay, pico de gallo was better, and salsa verde was better than that. Totally fine experience but not excited to come back soon. ”
“ I would give the burger a solid 7/10. It's nothing to write home about but was juicy and tasty. The asada fritas were awesome, partially because their sauces are super tasty. I wish I got the fries a little more crispy and will ask for extra crispy next time. Tacos were good, and I would definitely come for 99 cent taco tuesday. Solid little place to grab a quick bite, especially after some late night drinking. ”
“ Gotta respect the classics, Great White Hut will always serve that authentic American burger you crave. Double Cheeseburger with Bacon is my go to, if i’m feeling like a pig, i’ll order the Classic Fries to go with but I usually never finish. Really good burgers, not crazy on the tacos or burritos though. Would definitely recommend for late nights or lunch. ”
“ Located on the northeast corner of W California Ave and N Orange Street, next to Central Avenue Pharmacy, fairly close to the Glendale Galleria mall. There’s very limited parking in the attached lot, however, there’s paid parking lots right around the corner, and across the street. I was looking for some place different to eat that wasn’t the regular chain restaurants. After passing multiple chain restaurants, some inside/attached to the mall, some in the surrounding area, I stumbled upon The Great White Hut! This place definitely looked unique, especially compared to the other nearby food places. There were a few bar stools attached to the building to go along with a couple picnic bench type seating up against the Central Avenue Pharmacy. The person taking my order was friendly and answered any question I had about some menu items with a smile. I decided to go with the triple bacon cheeseburger, cheese nachos, and a coke! The burger was great, full of soo much juicy flavor, and the nachos were no joke either. The cheese was good, but I think it’s the chips that just make it taste so much better. Next time you’re in the area, skip the chain restaurants and swing by The Great White Hut, you won’t be dissapointed! ”
